FCC Toughens Legislation on Telemarketers, What You Need to Know
Facing thousands of complaints from consumers, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has recently enacted tougher rules for businesses who send automated telephone calls.

Under the new rules, telemarketers must receive explicit consent before calling home phones, regardless of whether or not the recipient is on the Do Not Call list. Calls to mobile phones are still restricted unless consent is granted by the recipient.

What else is changing? Before, companies with existing business relationships were exempted from restrictions, but that’s no longer the case. Businesses can only send voice calls to their customers with consent.

Additionally, telemarketers must give their recipients a quick and easy way to “opt-out” and automatically add their number to a Do Not Call list.
